Game Summary: Ludwigsburg’s defense held strong early on with a 7-1 lead and 5 Frankfurt turnovers in the first 4+ minutes. Frankfurt needed nearly 5 minutes before finally scoring a basket and took a 10-8 lead. Neither team shined offensively and Ludwigsburg led 15-13 after 10 minutes. Two triples from Ezra Manjon extended Ludwigsburg’s lead to 23-15. Another Ludwigsburg three-pointer gave the guests their first double digit lead 31-20. The cushion grew to as many as 12 points - 39-27 - but Frankfurt were down just 39-32 at the break.
The hosts had a good start to the second half and trimmed the margin to 6 points only to see Manjon to hit another triple to make it 49-38. Frankfurt raced back into the game with a 13-1 run over more than 5 minutes to lead 51-50. Ludwigsburg reclaimed the lead and went into the final quarter ahead 57-53. Frankfurt opened the scoring to start the fourth quarter but failed to score for almost 3 minutes and Ludwigsburg reeled off six straight points to lead 63-55. Frankfurt punched back with the next 15 points and eventually went up 73-65 with 2+ minutes to go. Ludwigsburg could not get closer than six points the rest of the way.

Numbers Please: Ludwigsburg could not rebound from the disappointment of being eliminated from the FIBA Europe Cup and shot just 31.5 percent for the game. Frankfurt also converted 27 of 35 free throws compared to 14 of 19 for the guests.

Player of the Game: Recent acquisition Marcus Domask did a bit of everything for Frankfurt with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.

The Germans: Jacob Knauf narrowly missed his career high of 10 points as the Frankfurt big man scored 8 points to go with 1 rebound, 1 assist and 2 blocks. Johannes Patrick came off the Ludwigsburg bench for a season-high 11 points - nine of which came in the first half - to go with 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal. Jacob Patrick added 9 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assists and 1 steal in the loss.

Parsons limited in off-shooting night: Frankfurt getting the win was all the more impressive considering they didn't get the usual production from leading scorer Malik Parsons. The Frankfurt guard scored all 8 of his points in the final 11:23 minutes and chipped in 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Parsons came into the game as the sixth leading scorer in the league with 17.1 points per game.

World Cup champion Perwas takes over as head coach - again: Klaus Perwas has been with Frankfurt since 2008 and he was promoted to head coach until the end of the season when the club fired Denis Wucherer. This is the fourth time that Perwas - who was an assistant coach for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 champions Germany - takes over the Frankfurt club on an interim basis following 2016, 2022 and 2023.

What's Up Next: Next up for Frankfurt will be a trip south to take on ratiopharm ulm on Saturday March 22. Ludwigsburg will host EWE Baskets Oldenburg on the same day.
