Germans Abroad
There was bad news out of the NBA for Ariel Hukporti as the 24-year-old center suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the preseason opener for his new team Philadelphia 76ers. Hukporti underwent surgery on his right Achilles tendon and will miss the rest of the season after last season being part of the NBA title-winning New York Knicks team - becoming just the third German to win an NBA crown after Dirk Nowitzki (2011) and Isaiah Hartenstein (2025). It is the second time Hukporti suffered a torn Achilles after it happened to his left foot in 2022 in the preparation for the season in Australia.
