MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg picked up their first victory after the national team break by nearly wasting a 16-point lead but beating Veolia Towers Hamburg 75-67 at home. Ludwigsburg watched Hamburg make it a one-point game but survived with a late run to improve to 12-10 after having lost three of their last four games. Elijah Hughes led the way with 20 points and Stef Smith added 14 points. Hamburg were playing their first game since the break but could not continue their momentum of five wins in the last six games in falling to 7-12. Devon Daniels paced Hamburg with 16 points.

Game Summary: Hamburg were up 5-2 early but went nearly 3 minutes without a score and fell behind 9-5. The game was even 12-12 when Ludwigsburg’s defense shut down Hamburg for the final 3:52 minutes of the first quarter and Elijah Hughes scored 10 points in a 12-0 run to lead 24-12. The run ended up being 14-0 over more than 5 minutes for a 26-12 lead. Kenneth Ogbe helped get the deficit to seven points at 28-21 and it was a six point game only to see Ludwigsbug extend the margin to 47-31 - with the score 47-33 at the break.
Hamburg tried to get back into the game and twice made it an eight-point game. Ludwigsburg twice pushed the lead to 13 points only to have the guests down 59-51 after 30 minutes. The surge continued for Hamburg and seven straight points from Devon Daniels brought Hamburg within 62-61. Stef Smith answered with a three-pointer to start an 11-2 run to decide the game.

Numbers Please: Ludwigsburg held Hamburg to just 32 percent shooting for the game including 24 percent from long range.

Player of the Game: Elijah Hughes came off the Ludwigsburg bench for 20 points while also chipping in 1 rebound and 3 assists.

The Germans: Gavin Schilling had 6 points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocks in the win and Brandon Tischler added 5 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. For Hamburg, Kenneth Ogbe collected 13 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals and Benedikt Turudic added 9 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.

Ludwigsburg celebrate International Women's Day: The game had a special connection to International Women's Day. Anne Panther and Aleksandra Pawlik were two of the three referees and Theresa Maier was the commissioner. And Ludwigsburg were wearing a custom pink uniforms - available in the club's fanshop for a good cause. In addition, the arena DJ played only songs by female artists.

What's Up Next: Ludwigsburg’s next game will be at RASTA Vechta on Saturday March 14. Hamburg will return to the court on Tuesday March 10 for a Round 26 game at home versus Science City Jena before hosting MLP Academics Heidelberg on Friday March 13.
