BMA365 Bamberg Baskets made it two wins in two games as they ruined the home opener for Basketball Löwen Braunschweig with a 98-75 road victory in front of Germany’s national team hero Dennis Schröder and the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 trophy. After winning their German Cup game against Veolia Towers Hamburg, Bamberg drained 17 three-pointers in blowing the game open in the second half in Braunschweig. Demarcus Demonia led Bamberg in scoring with 21 points and 11 rebounds while Benny Schröder and Barra Njie had 16 points in the loss.
Game Summary: The guests pulled ahead early 8-2 and were up 18-9 before going scoreless for more than 2 minutes and Braunschweig used a 10-0 run to pull ahead. But Bamberg led 23-19 after 10 minutes. Braunschweig needed more than 2 minutes to score in the second quarter and Bamberg were up again by nine points 28-19. Benny Schröder hit 10 points and the Lions regained the lead 35-34. Bamberg continued their strong offensive game and went into the intermission ahead 46-42.
Braunschweig were fighting to stay close and trailed until 50-49. The deficit was 55-49 when Bamberg’s sharpshooters blew the game open with Demarcus Demonia and Austin Crowley combining for 5 three-pointers in a 20-6 surge to make it 75-55. And the lead was 75-58 after 30 minutes. Braunschweig looked like they would make it a game scoring the first nine points of the final frame to make it 75-64. But Bamberg punched back with a 10-2 surge over the next 4 minutes to lead 85-66, and Braunschweig were defeated.
Numbers Please: Bamberg shot the lights out at Volkswagen Halle with 17 triples in 35 attempts for 49 percent compared to just 6 of 26 for 23 percent for Braunschweig. The hosts also converted only 11 of 26 free throws for a nightmare 42 percent. Braunschweig could not take advantage of 17 offensive rebounds.
Player of the Game: Demarcus Demonia drained three of his four three-pointers in the key late third quarter run for Bamberg. He finished with a team-high 21 points and also grabbed 11 rebounds and had 1 steal.

The Germans: Zach Ensminger scored 8 points to go with 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal for the winners while Braunschweig's Benny Schröder set a career high with 16 points to go with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal and Joshua Obiesie added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
Williams strong again: Cobe Williams had a strong game in the German Cup victory over Veolia Towers Hamburg with 25 points with 5 assists. And he stood out again against Braunschweig as the guard totalled 14 points and 5 assists.
Dennis Schröder and EuroBasket trophy in the house: One of the biggest highlights of the season opener for Braunschweig was club owner Dennis Schröder on hand and with him the trophy from Germany's title at the FIBA EuroBasket 2025.

What's Up Next: Braunschweig will head on the road for their next game as they travel to Fitness First Würzburg Baskets. Bamberg will remain on the road as they play at VET-Concept Gladiators Trier.
