Veolia Towers Hamburg earned an important victory as they battle to reach the play-ins by knocking off SKYLINERS 84-78 in overtime on the road. The game was tight throughout but Hamburg got 18 points from Brae Ivey and 17 from Johnathan Stove to improve to 9-11. It was Hamburg's third road win of the season and first since January 6. Frankfurt have now lost two straight for a 5-14 record as Malik Parsons' 15 points were not enough.
Game Summary: Frankfurt's defense stood strong in the early going, allowing just one Hamburg basket in the first 5 minutes in opening a 10-3 lead. The hosts kept Hamburg looking for answers and the advantage grew to double figures at 17-7, and it was 17-9 for Frankfurt after 10 minutes. Hamurg's offensive issues continued in the second quarter with just one basket in the first 4 minutes, though Frankfurt only managed to lead 21-11. It was 25-15 when Hamburg mounted a mini-run to pull within 25-22. And Frankfurt were ahead 29-26 at halftime.
Frankfurt fended off Hamburg in the early going of the second half, leading 36-31. Hamburg answered with a 10-3 surge to take their first lead 41-39. Jaizec Lottie hit two three-pointers for a 47-43 lead. And the guests went into the final 10 minutes ahead 49-48. The game remained tight with Frankfurt regaining the lead at 59-58. Hamburg pushed back ahead 64-60. Malik Parsons answered with three scores including a putback to put Frankfurt up 69-68. Brae Ivey stepped up for Hamburg with a three-pointer with 19 seconds left only to see Jordan Theodore convert a layup to tie the game 69-69 with 11 seconds to play to force overtime. In the extra session, Ivey and Lottie hit three-pointers to put Hamburg ahead 81-75 with 68 seconds to go. And Ivey iced the game with two free throws with 29 seconds to go to make it 84-78.
Numbers Please: Hamburg grabbed 19 offensive rebounds for 20 second chance points while holding Frankfurt to just 39 percent shooting for the game.

Player of the Game: Brae Ivey is a darkhorse for Most Valuable Player and he played big for Hamburg when they needed him most. He finished with 18 points - including a massive three-pointer late in regulation, another triple in overtime and the game-clinching free throws. Ivey also picked up 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
The Germans: Osaro Rich scored 9 points and had 1 rebound while Fabian Giessmann collected 6 points and 4 offensive rebounds for the winners. Patrick Heckmann tallied 7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal against his former team.
A gift basket coming from Göttingen: The loss for SKYLINERS meant last-placed BG Göttingen had a chance to gain some ground as they hope to bring Frankfurt into the relegation battle.
Also Newsworthy: The matchup between Denis Wucherer and Hamburg's Benka Barloschky was also a showdown of the only two head coaches in the league who were born in Germany.
