Game Summary: Ulm started the game on fire with the first 14 points including two three-pointers. Rostock needed almost 5 minutes to finally score and Karim Jallow moved to nine points as Ulm led 23-5. The guests scored a bit more consistently and trailed 25-12 after 10 minutes. Tobias Jensen opened the second quarter with a three-point play and the lead was 28-12 but Rostock fought their way back into the game with a 10-2 spurt to trim the gap to 30-22. And it was 35-26 when Ulm mounted a 13-2 finish to the first half to lead 48-28 going into the break.
Ulm scored the first four points of the second half for a 52-28 lead as Rostock needed nearly 2 minutes before finally scoring. Two triples extended the Ulm advantage to 58-32 midway through the third quarter. Rostock’s defense tightened up and held Ulm scoreless for more than 3 minutes and Robin Amaize had a three-pointer and three-point play in a 13-0 run to pull within 58-45. And the score was 62-47 after 30 minutes. Philipp Herkenhoff opened the final frame with a triple and it was 65-47 for the hosts. D’Shawn Schwartz buried two three-pointers in a 14-3 surge to make it a 7-point game 68-61 with 7 minutes to play. The Rostock push continued and the gap was down to 71-68 with under 3 minutes left. Also Newsworthy: Ulm did an excellent job taking Bryce Hamilton out of the game. Rostock’s star came into the game as the second-leading scorer in the league at 18.9, but he managed only 4 points on 1 of 8 shots in 28 minutes. It was just the second time this season in the league that Hamilton did not score in double figures along with his 3-point output at Basketball Löwen Braunschweig on December 21. Hamilton poured in 37 points against ALBA BERLIN on December 31.

Welcome back home: It had been quite some time since Ulm played a Bundesliga game in front of their home fans at the ratiopharm arena. Ty Harrelson's team last played at home in the league on December 14 – a 69-67 loss against MLP Academics Heidelberg.

What's Up Next: Ulm will next play in the BKT EuroCup with a road game at Dolomiti Energia Trento in Italy on Tuesday January 14. They return to the Bundesliga on Sunday January 19 at Basketball Löwen Braunschweig. Rostock’s next game will be at home against fellow northern German side EWE Baskets Oldenburg on Saturday January 18.
