BMA 365 Bamberg Baskets picked up their first victory after the FIBA break and regained their form with a convincing 80-69 home win over MLP Academics Heidelberg. Bamberg took control of the game with a 23-8 run in the second quarter to improve to 5-4, including a 2-2 mark at home. Cobe Williams led the way for Bamberg with 18 points and Richard Balint chipped in 14 points. Bamberg have won six of their last eight games, among them a triumph over Heidelberg in the Quarter-Finals of the German Cup on Novemberg 15. Heidelberg are still winless on the road at 0-5 and 2-8 overall. The guests could not use Mateo Seric’s 12 points in the loss.
Game Summary: After the hosts jumped out to a five-point game early on, Marcus Weathers scored six points to put Heidelberg ahead 11-9. Bamberg were back ahead 20-16 after a 9-3 surge and the score was 20-18 after 10 minutes. The game was tight at 25-24 for Bamberg, who then knocked down three three-pointers in a 17-3 run to build a 42-27 advantage. Two more triples and Bamberg went into the break ahead 48-32.
Bamberg started the second half with the first five points to make it a 21-point lead. Heidelberg managed to trim the gap to 17 points but it was 68-41 after a 15-5 run. And the hosts were ahead 70-43 after 30 minutes. Heidelberg opened the final frame with a 10-2 run but they still trailed by 19 points. The score was 76-55 with 3 minutes to play before Heidelberg at least finished in fine fashion with a 14-4 spurt.
Numbers Please: Bamberg came into the game with the number one scoring offense but their defense won them this game. They held Heidelberg to just 36 percent shooting including 39 percent on two-pointers. Bamberg also collected 20 fast break points.
Player of the Game: Cobe Williams was big all game with 18 points - thanks to hitting 4 three-pointers - to go with 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block.

The Germans: Zach Ensminger collected 10 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 assists for Bamberg and Daniel Keppeler added 10 points and 7 rebounds. Mateo Seric scored 12 points with 2 rebounds off the bench in a losing effort.
Bamberg double-header: The Bamberg-Heidelberg game was part of a double-header at the Brose Arena on Saturday. Before the game, the hosts’ women’s team Medikamente per Klick Bamberg Baskets played against VIMODROM Baskets Jena in the the second league 2. DBBL and lost 53-46.
