FIT/One Würzburg Baskets grabbed their first victory of the season in the easyCredit BBL with a blowout 92-65 win at ROSTOCK SEAWOLVES. Würzburg gave up just 18 points in the middle two quarters to move to 1-1 in the league. Jhivvan Jackson paced four Würzburg players in double figures with 21 points. Rostock have now dropped two straight games for a 2-2 record.

Game Summary: Rostock committed four turnovers and Würzburg went ahead 7-0 before the hosts finally scored after more than 2 minutes. Owen Klassen beat Rostock for three scores as the cushion grew to 15-6. Würzburg pushed the lead to double figures at 18-8. The cushion was 23-15 after 10 minutes. Würzburg increased the lead to 28-15 as Rostock didn’t score in the first 3 minutes of the second quarter. The hosts could not find any rhythm offensively or slow down Würzburg as the margin grew to 23 points - 45-22. And Rostock were down 47-27 at halftime.
Little changed after the break as Jackson and Mike Davis were too much for Rostock, who fell behind 56-29. The hosts finally picked up a couple of scores but Würzburg turned up their defense with a 17-0 run over the final 5:42 minutes of the third quarter to lead 73-33 after 30 minutes. Rostock gave themselves a little bit of confidence with a strong fourth quarter, putting together an 11-0 run to make it 75-46. The guests twice got the deficit down to 28 points and the final five points made it only a 27-point loss.

Numbers Please: What a nightmare for Rostock with 24 turnovers in the game while Würzburg committed only 9 miscues.

Player of the Game: No doubt about who was the main man in this game as Würzburg's scoring machine Jhivvan Jackson drained 3 three-pointers in tallying 21 points in just 19 minutes to go along with 1 assist and 1 steal.

The Germans: Lukas Wank helped Würzburg to the win with 10 points, 4 offensive rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal while Max Ugrai added 8 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Robin Amaize was one of the few bright spots for Rostock with a team-high 13 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

Also Newsworthy: As bad as the final result appears, Rostock at least played a strong fourth quarter - taking the frame 32-19 - to avoid a club negative record. Rostock's worst loss was a 35-point defeat - 99-64 - against EWE Baskets Oldenburg on March 31, 2024.

What's Up Next: Rostock's next game will be on Sunday October 20 when they play at Bamberg Baskets. Würzburg meanwhile have a home game against Igokea m:tel in the Basketball Champions League on Tuesday October 8 before play at BG Göttingen in the Round of 16 of the German BBL Cup on Friday October 11.
